| As the number of projects swell, the pool of credentialed
talent is not keeping pace. In Asia alone — where
entire cities are being built, seemingly overnight —
a shortage of 6 million skilled project professionals is
expected by 2013. Add to that the fact that, of the 20 million
people participating in projects worldwide, just one million
have professionally recognized formal training on how to
best execute those projects. One thing becomes clear: The
demand for skilled project managers is at a critically urgent
level.
Project Management Professional or PMP
The PMP credential recognizes demonstrated knowledge and
skill in leading and directing project teams and in delivering
project results within the constraints of schedule, budget
and resources. PMP certification is based on exam conducted
by PMI which requires candidates to get 35 PDUs (professional
development units) before applying for the exam.
