What Is Mock Trading?
Mock trading is like a mock test, where the actual scores are an indication only. In mock trading one can buy and sell stocks without using one’s money. At the end of the trading period one can figure out how much money one would have actually made or lost by following one’s strategy. It is a way to assess oneself without risking one’s hard earned money.
Mock trading is a learning tool. One starts with virtual money, say Rs 1 lakh, and use it to buy stocks or commodities on a mock trading platform. This platform uses quotes from the actual stock market in real time, so the experience of trading is just the same as buying and selling stocks in the actual stock market. The difference is that the profits or losses made are virtual.
As the price fluctuates, one can take decisions to buy and sell stocks. Every time you buy stock, the virtual funds are debited, and they are credited when you sell stock. So at the end of the transactions, one can see how much money remains and work out a profit and loss account. The resultant figure shows you how much you would have gained or lost had you used your real money |
